The explanation to the draft law says that the low level of wages leads to a gap in the income of the population, a decrease in demand and slows down the GDP of the state.

The deputies also noted that officially a specialist receiving a salary equal to the minimum wage cannot be classified as poor, but a person will not be able to survive on this amount.
If the initiative is approved, the minimum wage increase will amount to 10,758 rubles or +56%.
Recall that at the end of July, the Ministry of Labor proposed to increase the minimum salaries of employees in the Russian Federation to 22,440 rubles. The ministry explained that the new figure will ensure the fulfillment of the norm on the ratio between the minimum wage and the median salary of at least 48%.
