Moscow Stock Exchange may launch trading on weekends
january 28th. /MEDIA TALK/. Representatives of the Central Bank, the trading platform and securities specialists discussed the possibility of conducting transactions with shares on non-working days and holidays. This is reported by Kommersant with reference to market participants.

It is assumed that weekend trading will be conducted from 10:00 to 19:00 Moscow time, similar to the main trading session. At the same time, transactions will be settled on the first business morning after the holidays. Market experts assume that the most liquid stocks will be traded, while bonds, most likely, will not be available for trading yet.

Major players such as Sberbank, VTB, T-Investments and Finam supported the idea of bidding on weekends, while small businesses opposed it, citing significant labor costs and lack of economic justification.

According to experts, the volume of transactions over the weekend may amount to 30-40% of the usual weekday trades. The Moscow Stock Exchange announced that the idea of trading on weekends was introduced at the end of 2024, and it has remained unchanged since then. It is planned to launch operations in 2025.

Morning trading resumed on the Moscow Stock Exchange the day before, and we talked about it in more detail.
