Starting from 2025, Russia may increase fines for banks for defrauding customers
July 17th. /MEDIA TALK/.On Wednesday, July 17, it became known that starting from 2025, Russia may increase fines for banks for defrauding customers to 0.1% of the capital. This was written by Izvestia with reference to the head of the service for consumer protection and accessibility of financial services of the Central Bank Mikhail Mamut.

Such a law may be adopted in the country this year, said Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the financial market.

The media added that the most popular complaint of Russians applying to banks remains the imposition of insurance when registering financial products. Also, citizens of the Russian Federation report that credit institutions sometimes do not comply with the terms of contracts, and the agreements themselves periodically contradict the requirements of the law.

The number of complaints against banks in January-March this year decreased by 13.6% compared to the same period in 2023, the Central Bank noted. This was facilitated by a new law that counteracts the imposition of services by financial organizations.

Recall that at the end of June it was reported that the Central Bank may begin regulating the installment market in Russia by the end of this year. The regulator clarified that at the moment, many customers who make phased payments for goods do not know all the terms of the contract, cannot take advantage of the restructuring, and are usually not informed about the high penalties for late payments.
