The Central Bank did not rule out an increase in the key rate above 20%
October 1. /MEDIA TALK/.On Tuesday, October 1, it became known that the Central Bank does not rule out raising the key rate above 20% this month. This was reported by Interfax with reference to a statement by Kirill Tremasov, head of the monetary policy department of the institution.

The representative of the Central Bank explained that the tightening of monetary policy may occur against the background of "new unforeseen circumstances." He added that inflation this year is likely to exceed the official forecast of 6.5-7%.

Tremasov noted that now the main goal of the Central Bank is to return the growth rate of prices for goods and services to the 4% level by the end of next year.

Recall that last week it was reported that VTB expects a rate increase in the country to 23% if inflation reaches 8%. In the bank's main scenario, the price growth rate in 2025 will be 6%, in which case the indicator is projected at 19%.
