This decision is caused by the growth of domestic production and the entry into the market of new goods and brands of Russian origin. The decrease in interest in goods from abroad is facilitated by an increase in the supply of similar products from friendly countries.
Alikhanov stressed the need to make informed decisions when removing goods from the list in order to avoid shortages. Since the introduction of the parallel import mechanism, the volume of goods imported has decreased from $4 billion to $3 billion per month. The most noticeable drop in volumes was noted in such product groups as clothing, footwear and electronics.
In September, the Ministry announced that it would exclude about 200 items from the list of goods for parallel import.
