November 2nd. /MEDIA TALK/. On Saturday, November 2, it became known that the pilot project on tax-free was extended in the Russian Federation until the end of 2027. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta with reference to the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to the document signed by the head of the Cabinet of Ministers Mikhail Mishustin, tax-free in the current version will continue to operate until December 31, 2027. The system implies a refund of VAT to foreigners when exporting goods purchased in Russia outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The Cabinet of Ministers believes that the decision will have a positive impact on the tourism industry and the production of goods popular with travelers from distant countries.

It should be noted that tax-free has been operating in the Russian Federation in pilot mode since 2018. VAT refund is available to all foreign citizens, except for visitors from the EAEU states. The minimum purchase amount for registration of tax-free is 10 thousand rubles.

Recall that this week the authorities of several Russian cities announced the introduction of a tourist tax from 2025. The new fee will be charged to tourists in Omsk, Novosibirsk, Kazan and Vladivostok.
