UnionPay cards continue to be issued by only two major Russian banks

November 26th. /MEDIA TALK/.After the introduction of blocking US sanctions, the cards of Gazprombank and Primsotsbank customers stopped working abroad, and it became impossible to issue new cards. As Kommersant writes today, at the moment only two large banks in Russia issue UnionPay cards. These are the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Asia-Pacific Bank. At the same time, according to journalists, the support service of both organizations warns of possible interruptions in the operation of the service outside the territory of Russia. For example, today UnionPay cards have completely stopped working in Turkey.

Experts recommend issuing a Visa or Mastercard abroad as an alternative, but warn about the difficulties of such registration and additional costs when converting currencies. The universal possibility remains the use of cash when traveling abroad.
